22. Eric Heuvel

Sa zadovoljstvom najavljujemo 22. gosta 10. MSV-a (2025) — Erica Heuvela!

We’re pleased to announce the 22nd guest of the 10th MSV (2025) — Eric Heuvel!

Based in Zaandam, Eric Heuvel is a Dutch comic book illustrator and artist. He is the creator of numerous comics on commission as well as retro-styled comic series including ,,January Jones” (1987–1995, 2009–present) and ,,Bud Broadway.” His instructional historical comics about World War II and the Dutch Indies (present-day Indonesia) are his most well-known works. Heuvel made his professional debut after showing his work to Martin Lodewijk — who suggested that he follow the Clear Line style and created a series for him called ,,January Jones” about a female aviator from the 1930s. Heuvel won the Dutch Stripschap Prize for his whole body of work at the Stripdagen in Haarlem, which took place from March 10–11, 2012.

Eric’s retro style speaks of nostalgia — but a meaningful kind — the one where when we look back at it, we remember how much it educates us, the way we grew up with influential art; it shapes us in ways we can’t imagine… It’s absolutely needed, and wanted, so we absolutely recommend you to look through his work. 🎨🪄
